Breathing Easier: My Journey to Wellness Through Ketosis

Imagine struggling to catch your breath, feeling weighed down not just by physical weight but by the fear of an asthma attack. This was my reality, a daunting journey that took a surprising turn. In this article I’ll recount my transformation from gasping for air to embracing a life of vitality, guided by the revolutionary insights of Peter Attia and the power of ketosis. This isn't just a story of weight loss, it's a tale of rediscovering health and redefining my relationship with food.

My Story

For years, my life was overshadowed by what I thought was chronic bronchitis. The real culprit, however, was asthma, a revelation that came to light during a harrowing experience: a severe attack triggered by double flu and air travel, landing me in the hospital. Weighing 109kg, my days were marked by labored breathing, disrupted sleep, and a foggy mind.

Desperate for a change, I stumbled upon the ketogenic diet. This low-carb, high-fat regimen was my beacon of hope. With negligible carbs, increased physical activity, abundant water, natural supplements, and a strict no-processed-food policy, I embarked on a transformative 8-month journey. The results were astounding – a weight drop to 83k. But more importantly, a drastic improvement in my breathing, sleep, focus, and overall wellness.

During this period, I discovered Dr. Peter Attia, an MD and scientist with a deep interest in ketosis. Attia's own experience as an endurance athlete struggling with weight issues, despite a rigorous exercise regimen, resonated with me. Today, I meticulously balance 278g of 'good' carbs daily, from sources like zucchini, sweetcorn, and tomatoes. And, honestly, this disciplined approach has been life-altering. My weight remains stable, my overall quality of life has soared, and most importantly, my asthma is virtually a thing of the past.

Ketosis, for me, is more than a diet. It's a lifestyle that has redefined how my body functions. The shift from relying on glycogens to burning fats has been nothing short of a revelation. It's a journey I highly recommend exploring, especially for those grappling with similar health issues.

The Positive Effects of My Ketogenic Journey

The transformation I experienced on the ketogenic diet extends beyond just the numbers on the scale or the easing of my asthma symptoms.
